Fall Ball was a blast and I hope everyone had a good time. We played some great competition this fall. Not one of our games was an easy win. With that better level of play, we also experienced some tough losses. Lets work in the off season and get ready for a great spring season.

Special thanks to the Ullum and Koza families for their support this fall.
After making the 280 mile journey to the plains of West Lafayette, we played the hosting team, Purdue, and we came out of the gates swinging. Overall a great team effort, exceptional offensive play came from Ben “Iron Fist” Dunson, who was alley-oopin’ and jay splashin’ all over the place, and Nate “I can’t believe it’s not butter” Tarr. Defensive recognition has to go to Andy “The Polar Bear” Kaminski and BTH “BTH.” The Purdue matchup went into a grueling double overtime and was put to bed by a money shot from ?. After the thrilling victory, we had approximately 34 seconds of downtime before our faceoff with Illinois. Needless to say we do not do enough conditioning to comeback from a double overtime game in 34 seconds, so we’ll just forget about that game summary.
In the constellation matchup, we faced Wisconsin. After taking an early lead 4-0 in the first half we were unable to hang on. Ellis “my stick is always illegal” Krienik (sorry about that guys) took a 1 minute penalty late in the fourth quarter with the game tied, and Wisconsin unfortunately capitalized. Only later did we learn that there were no stick checks in the tournament. Props to the defense though, they held the Badgers to 5 goals the entire game, most of which coming from man-down situations.
Overall, we learned a lot about where we’re at and what we need to do to improve. Although the outcome could have been different, the experience was much needed and we got to see Kevin “Baby DC” Connor do the sickest freestyle I have ever heard. The End. Oh, and was with that car that wouldn't stop talking sh*t to Andy?
Fall Ball 2008 started off with a great first game. We played hard against a solid Redhawk's lacrosse team, narrowly defeating them 6-5. Ohio State had a huge turnout this fall and is boasting an incredible group of freshman/transfers. The game led off with a goal from newcomer Nate Tarr. Senior John Gradoville scored next to put us ahead 2-0. Miami answered with one goal before the end of the half. The Buckeyes went into halftime leading 2-1. The second half of the game was a roller coaster with a finish like no other. We made beginner mistakes which helped to keep Miami in the game. Mike Kerpsack, a sophomore, was the first Buckeye to score in the second half to put us in the lead with 3 goals to Miami's 2 goals. Later in the game, Ellis Krienik, junior attackman, put one in the net to tie us at 4-4. Down by one goal with minutes remaining, the Buckeye's turned towards senior leadership to win the game. Mark Gillen, a senior midfielder, glided down field and swiftly notched a huge goal for the team to tie the game at 5-5. That was Mark's first time playing since knee injury in our NCLL tournament loss to Ohio U. last spring. With him back, the team just got a whole lot sexier. With under a minute left to play, we pressured the ball and had a fast break by senior defenseman Mike Fisher. Fish scored the winning goal with two seconds left to play. We would like to thank Miami, who went 4-6 in the MCLA-1 last spring, for traveling to play us. Next week we travel to play the Dayton Fliers on the NCR Field.
